1. General
Pricing will change for new users. Gold users with a prior active membership do not have to pay anything additional in order to use SmileFy. Existing Gold users will be allowed one renewal at the prior rate.
DSDApp and DSD were always two separate companies, owned and operated by different people. There was and still is crossover in the concepts and both continue to complement each other.
In order to be in line with the current industry demands and offer our users the absolute best experience and solution, evolution is necessary. We are developing innovative, automated, advanced solutions which will go much further then just a Smile design. We are focusing in the future strongly on new smile esthetics and function during the design, diagnostic, treatment planning and delivering. We decided to start with a new name for this advancing solution.
It remains intact. You will still be able to use the DSDApp (as before) and you have an option to use the new, upgraded SmileFy App included in your membership. You will renew on your renewal date. Only difference is rather than clicking on the DSDApp icon to create smile designs, you will now click on the SmileFy icon.
The DSD hands on app is to be used for training purposes at the DSD Residency. It does not allow you to design on the iPhone or the MAC, and does not include Artificial Intelligence technology. With Artificial Intelligence Smile design on SmileFy App is done with 3 clicks, in less than a minute. SmileFy is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. SmileFy was created to make designing and treatment planning much faster, more precise, and much easier.

Everything that was included with DSDApp and more! You now have the app on three platforms, iPhone, iPad, and Mac/MacBook Pro. You have unlimited smile designs, premium support, access to our webinars and online tutorials, first access to both in person and online courses, monthly newsletters, case studies, and our weekly tutorial sessions.
You can download the app onto as many devices as you wish. You are only able to login and use the app on 1 iPhone, 1 iPad and 1 Mac at the same time. However, you cannot be logged into the app on two iPads or two iPhones or two Macs simultaneously.
For the next 12 months as long as you have an active subscription.
The SmileFy app is using AI technology to automate the designs and calibration process. You will be able to design in 3D with our next update, as well as design on the lower arch. Our competitors are not using AI technology and most do not have the 3D design capabilities with AI.
2. Cases
All cases you have designed in DSDApp will remain on the DSDApp. You will have access to the cases for the next 12 months.
You can design on your Mac version simply by uploading your patient files from Dropbox, Google Drive or iCloud. All devices are synced as long as they are connected to the internet.
DSDApp is still available for you. You still can use the DSDApp to complete or modify your designs. However, once the DSDApp is phased out (in 12 months) you will not be able to go back and modify them. To prevent yourself from being in this situation, we encourage you to upgrade to the new solution, and import all of the patient documentation for the patients with year-long treatments into the SmileFy app so that you can design the case, and have no worries about future modifications.
- DSDApp is still available for you. You still can use the DSDApp to complete your designs.
- We encourage you to not start 3D cases on the DSDApp to avoid this from happening. If this is not feasible, please reach out to us and we will try to find a workaround for you.
- For your smile designs created on the DSDApp iPad version, you will be able to export the patient documentation from the DSDAPP and create smile designs on the new platform (SmileFy). To achieve this, upload your patient documentation to either iCloud or DropBox from the DSDApp, and then in the SmileFy app, go to patient documentation, click on the proper fields and import the corresponding files.
- The smile designs created on the DSDApp iPhone version will be migrated onto SmileFy Platforms.
We understand change is sometimes difficult. We promise the upgraded solution – SmileFy is a much easier solution to use. You can continue to use the DSDApp for the next 12 months however, highly encourage and recommend you upgrade to the SmileFy App so that you have all future patients you design on, on the new platform. After 12 months, you will no longer be able to use the DSDApp.

The course will be taught using the SmileFy app. We will provide you with a “Test Flight” version of the 3D version of the app and you will be trained on it. You’ll be ahead of the curve 🙂

5. About Upcoming Courses
The kick off for the course will take place on 4/23 as planned. You will have 4 weeks to practice smile design on your patients. After 4 weeks the first module of the course will be released, so you can complete the course with the new automated 3D design functionality and can benefit most from the new technology. In the interim, you should use the SmileFy app so that you’re ahead of the curve once the online course commences.
